To remove scale from the heating element of your humidifier, follow these steps:
- Ensure the unit is off and unplugged. Wait 20-30 minutes if recently used.
- Remove accessories and empty the inhalant cup and water tank.
- Pour 2 cups (0.5 litre) of undiluted white vinegar into the reservoir on the water tray. Let soak for 20 minutes to loosen scale on the heating element.
- Pour additional vinegar into the water tank, swish, and wipe away any scale inside the tank and tank cap with a vinegar-dampened cloth.
- Remove the mist chimney and heating element cover.
- Use a soft brush with vinegar to scrub the heating element, heating element cover, reservoir, and heating chamber to remove mineral deposits.
- Empty vinegar from the water tray and water tank.
- Rinse the water tray, water tank and heating element cover until the vinegar smell is gone.
- Wipe the heating element with a damp cloth and reassemble.
- Please do not run the unit with the vinegar in it.
CAUTION: DO NOT RINSE HEATING ELEMENT OR MIST CHIMNEY IN SINK OR UNDER RUNNING WATER AS WATER CAN GET INTO INTERNAL PARTS. DOING SO WILL DAMAGE THE HUMIDIFIER AND VOID THE WARRANTY. ONLY USE A WET CLOTH OR PAPER TOWEL TO CLEAN THIS PART.

For ultrasonic humidifiers, periodic cleaning of the nebulizer will help it perform at its best. The nebulizer, which is a round disc found in the base of the unit, vibrates at ultrasonic speeds to create mist. Over time, minerals from your water may collect on the nebulizer causing it to slow to a pace that is not sufficient to create mist. At this time, we would recommend cleaning your nebulizer using these steps:
- Please make sure the unit is turned off and unplugged.
- Remove and empty water from the tank and then empty the base of the unit into your sink.
- Fill the base with undiluted white vinegar (just enough to cover the nebulizer) and let it soak for at least 20 minutes. If you see a strong mineral build-up, you may want to let it soak longer.
- While the nebulizer is soaking in vinegar, take a soft cloth and wipe around the nebulizer to remove the mineral deposits.
- Empty the vinegar and rinse the base with water.
- Please do not run the unit with the vinegar in it.
